Venus transit photos

June 8, 2004

Here's six images, all but the last one sized 6" X 9" at 72 dpi (close to 640 X 480.) The last one is an approximately square crop at 72 dpi of the next-to-last image showing how my digital camera recorded the sun and Venus at full resolution.

They were taken from approximately 6:05 AM to 6:30 AM Tuesday morning. After 6:30, the sun had climbed out of the ground fog, and my camera was unable to resolve Venus in the "glare flare" even at 1/4000 second at f/45 with a 1.5-stop polarizing filter. Not to mention what looking through the viewfinder was doing to my right eye!
