STEVE LONG'S AURORA SHOTS AT TUCKAHOE November 5th  8:45p.m.-10:30p.m.
The camera was a Canon Elan 7E, mounted on a Bogen tripod.  The lenses I used that night were the Canon 20mm and 24mm f/2.8.  I think all three shots I sent to the club's email site were taken with the 24mm.  The film was Kodak Elite Chrome 100 slide film, and exposures were full-aperture, anywhere from 45 seconds to around 2 minutes, depending on how bright I thought the sky was.I had no idea how to expose auroras, I was just guessing.  I scanned the slides into my Power Mac with a Nikon Coolscan LS-2000 slide and negative scanner at 2700 dpi, then used Photoshop to crop the images slightly and to make 72-dpi copies to send over the Web.
